Arabic Tournaments The Olympic committee participated in the Arab tournaments achieving the following: The committee participated in all the Arab sports tournaments starting from the first tournament that took place in Egypt in 1952. Kuwait won its first bronze medallion in xxxxxxxxx in the second tournament that took place in Lebanon in 1957. By the 5th sports tournament which took place in Syria in 1976, Kuwait won 23 medallions 4 of which are gold, 6 silver and 13 bronze in the following games: water polo, diving, gymnastics, handball, judo, basketball, field and track. In the 7th tournament that took place in Syria year 1992, Kuwait won 31 medallions 8 of which were gold, 7 silver and 16 bronze in the following games: shooting, swimming, horseback riding, football, boxing and karate. In the 8th tournament that took place in Lebanon in 1997, Kuwait won 37 medallions one of which was gold, 13 silver and 23 bronze in the following games: karate, fencing, field and track, judo, taekwando and shooting.
