The KOC is working on modernizing the sports’ concept, since exercising these sports according to their concept is considered one of the human rights, in a way that every individual must be able to exercise sports according to his needs. The KOC considers sports as an art and a beneficial tool that strengthens the human’s social interaction.

Moreover the KOC is working on developing the means of understanding the importance of sports and on spreading it between people of different ages. In addition to that it is providing all the means that may help in this development.
Some of its works and aims:

• Safeguarding the Olympic rules and principles and preserving the hobby’s principles, and that is with the help of the concerned sports federations, the support of the Olympic movement and the work on urging the spirit if enthusiasm between the sportsmen, in order to promote the mental and physical characteristics that are considered the basis of the sports hobby.
• The effective participation with the government’s ministries and institutions and with the other common organizations in providing the youths’ generations with a national education in order for the means of qualifications for exercising these sports to be in the following ranges:

• To activate the role of Kuwait and its youth in the different domains and to protect the nation.
• To work on developing the rules and regulations controlling the sports movement in conformity with the sports’ function and role in our society and in the cooperation council countries.
• To encourage and protect the sports’ hobbies and to provide opportunities and facilities to sponsor the top sportsmen in any sports activity whatsoever.
• To strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation with the youth of the cooperation council countries, the Arab world and the world and that is by the mutual coordination, the unification of opinions and by holding international, continental, Arab, regional and sports tournaments and championships and to exchange experiences, delegations, teams and other various means.
• To coordinate with the Arab, Gulf and sports organizations and unify the activities in order to promote their post in the international and continental congregations and to achieve the Arab sports unity.
• To strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity with the concerned foreign sports’ federations and that is by holding tournaments and exchanging delegations and experiences.
• To work on clarifying the national situations in Kuwait the first of which is the issue concerning the captives and the hostages in Baghdad’s prisons. To support the situations in the Arab world and support the strive for liberation of all the people through their participation in the sports activities. It is to be noted that only the KOC has the right of representing Kuwait in the international Olympic committee’s meetings or any other related committees and in the regional Olympic tournaments whether held in Kuwait or abroad.
  
  It also has the right to participate in:

1. The activities of the international Olympic committee.
2. Helping the sports federations in fulfilling their aim by dedicating a financial aid to the different sports federations in order for the latter to exercise its activities and supervise it and organize special studies to promote the administrative and technical level of the sports games.
3. Preparing the Olympic games or the regional tournaments and participate in it according to the rules and regulations agreed upon in the international Olympic committee and choosing the Kuwaiti representatives in it.
4. Organizing the regional and Olympic tournaments, if it was decided upon holding it in Kuwait, according to the Olympic rules and regulations.
5. Strengthening the relations with the national Olympic committees and the international sports bodies and encouraging the international sports interchange.
6. Participating with the sports federations in setting up their programs regarding the Olympic and regional activity.

Only the Olympic committee has the right to use the flag, Olympic signs and slogans and the two words Olympic and Olympiad and their use would be related to the Olympic games’ activities. It is strictly forbidden that the above mentioned would be traded or that these games manufacture their own signs and slogans without the committee’s approval.
The KOC receives the necessary money, to manage its affairs, from the government in the form of aids and benefits, which the ministry of social affairs and labor used to outlay. Then the general body for youth and sports took over this responsibility after the state decree law was issued regarding its establishment on the 10th of August 1992.
